Amanda Johnson
Amanda Johnson, a native of Wichita, always wanted to work with animals and considered careers in veterinary medicine, zoo keeping, or grooming. She joined Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital of Wichita in 2005 as a kennel attendant with no experience in veterinary medicine. Amanda fell in love with emergency medicine and thrived on its rapid paced problem solving. Her professional curiosity and desire to learn led to many career advancements over the years to roles such as ICU Assistant, Surgical Assistant, Laboratory Manager, Inventory Supervisor, and Shift Leader. During this time, she continued her education and earned her Registered Veterinary Technician license. The advanced training allowed her to pursue veterinary nurse roles in specialty departments such as internal medicine, surgery, radiology, ophthalmology, rehabilitation, dentistry and oral surgery. With her positive, can-do attitude and strategic mindset, Amanda was promoted to Operations Manager during the construction of our new hospital. She had an integral role in every aspect of the development and construction process. It was no surprise that she was once again promoted to Hospital Manager. Amanda takes pride in developing others within our hospital. She is dedicated to serving pets in our community and committed to upholding our mission! Outside the hospital, Amanda enjoys the outdoors and camping with her pointer mix, Gaborik.
