Nichole Perez-Nieves, DVM
Dr. Nichole Perez-Nieves is an Emergency Veterinarian with a strong foundation in advanced clinical training and a lifelong passion for animal care. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology before completing her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, she pursued a rigorous one-year small animal rotating internship at the University of Missouri, further strengthening her skills in comprehensive emergency and critical care.
Dr. Perez-Nieves knew from a young age that veterinary medicine was her calling. Her passion deepened in high school while working as a kennel assistant and participating in externships across both small and large animal settings. Inspired by her own pets and motivated by a desire to serve as a bridge for the Hispanic community within veterinary medicine, she is dedicated to ensuring all animals, and their families, receive the highest level of care and communication.
Dr. Perez-Nieves has developed a particular interest in Neurology, valuing the unique blend of medicine and surgery the specialty offers. She finds fulfillment in guiding patients and their families through diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. She is also a co-author of a research publication in the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine titled "Evaluation of a urine dipstick protein to urine specific gravity ratio for the identification of clinically relevant proteinuria in dogs and cats."
At home, Dr. Perez-Nieves enjoys life with her husband, their young daughter, and their dog, Pepper. In her free time, she loves exploring new coffee shops and restaurants and visiting the zoo, a favorite family activity in Wichita.
