Mariajesus Soula, DVM
Dr. Mariajesus Soula, known fondly as "Dr. Mj" (with a lowercase "j"), is one of three Dr. Soula siblings, each with a remarkable academic background. While her sisters have pursued a PhD and an MD/PhD, Dr. Mj chose veterinary medicine, earning her degree from the University of Florida 's College of Veterinary Medicine and then completing her small animal surgical residency at Kansas State University.
Hailing from Miami, Florida, Dr. Mj's home is filled with a variety of pets that reflect her diverse interests. She shares her life with three beloved dogs—two German Shepherd dogs, Icky and Jet, and a Rottweiler named Boone. Icky is a dedicated protection sport dog, while Jet serves as a search and rescue dog for the state. Dr. Mj also has three cats: Lunchbox Olivia, Ducky Clementine, and Milo. In addition, her passion for reptiles is evident in her extensive collection of crested geckos, which she breeds.
Originally planning to double board in small animal surgery and zoo medicine, Dr. Mj's love for minimally invasive surgery and wound care guided her current career path. She has a special affinity for the more challenging patients, such as feisty cats and working dogs. Her patience and dedication often transform these initial adversaries into best friends.
Outside of veterinary practice, Dr. Mj enjoys spending time with her fiancé, Abi. Her hobbies include board games, gardening, outdoor activities, and cooking. She is driven by a belief that we don’t deserve dogs, so she treats every canine patient like her own. Her goal is to collaborate with pet owners to find the best solutions to enhance their pet's comfort and quality of life.
