A Triumph of Teamwork and Innovation: Lola’s Remarkable Journey
December 3, 2024 · Miracle Testimonials
Lola’s story is one of resilience, cutting-edge veterinary care, and the unwavering love of her family. She arrived at our hospital with a mass silently growing inside her head, only becoming noticeable when it began to push her eyeball outward. Lola was in significant pain, likely comparable to chronic migraines. Initial diagnostics suggested the mass was an aggressive form of cancer.
Despite understanding that Lola’s prognosis was uncertain, her owners prioritized her comfort and quality of life. They bravely decided to proceed with surgery, knowing that achieving clear margins or curing her cancer might not be possible. The primary goal was to alleviate Lola’s pain and restore her well-being.
Lola’s surgery was an intricate and complex procedure. Our surgical team removed her eye, zygomatic arch, nasal bone, part of her maxilla, and part of her orbital bone. With meticulous pre-surgical planning, including the use of 3D modeling and 3D printing, we were able to reconstruct Lola’s face, ensuring she looked and felt like her normal self. The procedure was lengthy and challenging, but Lola’s recovery was nothing short of remarkable. She was able to return home the very next day.
The good news didn’t stop there. Histopathology results revealed that the tumor was a rare form with a much better prognosis than initially expected—and it had been completely removed! Lola’s owners shared that she has been acting like a puppy again, full of energy and joy, almost immediately after surgery.
Lola’s heartwarming journey highlights the incredible outcomes that teamwork, innovation, and a commitment to patient care can achieve.
