Prior joining Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital of Wichita, Dr. Ralph Millard was a Staff Surgeon at a large private practice in the Kansas City area. He was previously a Clinical Assistant Professor in Small Animal Surgery at Purdue University in Indiana. He has many years of clinical experience and has authored numerous book chapters and peer reviewed scientific publications. He is proficient at numerous aspects of veterinary surgery including knee (TPLO) and other joint/ligament injuries, complex and open fractures, minimally invasive methods of fracture repair and a multitude of general soft tissue/oncologic surgical procedures.

He is Board-Certified in Small Animal Surgery and is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons-Small Animal.

He received a Bachelor and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree at Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS. He completed a Rotating Internship in Small Animal Medicine & Surgery at the University of Minnesota, in St. Paul, MN followed by an Internship in Small Animal Surgery at the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center in Dallas, TX. Dr. Millard completed a Fellowship in Small Animal Surgery at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN. He completed his Residency in Small Animal Surgery a Master of Science degree at Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS.

When not providing care to furry family members he enjoys spending time with his family and pets, as well as walleye fishing, canoeing, wood-working, biking and traveling.
