Patricia Amador
Patricia has dedicated 18 years to the veterinary field, with experience spanning from receptionist roles to veterinary assistant positions. She holds two bachelor’s degrees in Field Biology and Zoo Science, along with a master’s degree in Environmental Studies. Currently, she is pursuing her RVT certification through Penn Foster, demonstrating her commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Her career began in wildlife rehabilitation, driven by a deep passion for patient care and animal rescue. Patricia initially entered the veterinary field as a receptionist at a day practice, which served as a stepping stone to becoming a veterinary assistant. Her skills flourished when she joined VESH, where she found ample opportunities to grow and enhance her expertise in patient care. After seven years at VESH, Patricia transitioned to shelter medicine, serving as the Executive Director of the Ponca City Humane Society from 2012 to 2019. She then returned to VESH, where she has taken on various roles, including Veterinary Assistant, Shift Lead, Rescue Coordinator, and Bilingual Translator.
Patricia’s extensive experience has made her well-rounded in both clinical and public-facing aspects of veterinary care. Her leadership abilities were honed during her time as Director and Shift Lead, where she demonstrated a strong aptitude for team management, conflict resolution, and guiding teams toward shared goals. Her contributions have been instrumental in ensuring the smooth operations of the organization.
In recognition of her dedication, Patricia was awarded a scholarship from NVA for the Penn Foster program, an honor she deeply appreciates. She is excited to step into the role of Assistant Hospital Manager, where she looks forward to leveraging her skills to drive improvements and make a significant impact on the hospital’s success.
Outside of work, Patricia enjoys spending time with her family, which includes her partner Eric, their 4-year-old daughter Nina, two scruffy mixed-breed dogs named Yoda and BeeBees, and several rescue cats. Her oldest rescue cat, Gabriel, was her first rescue through VESH and remains a beloved member of the family. On weekends, Patricia finds relaxation in flower gardening, where she delights in the progress of her blooms. Although her work at the 24-hour facility keeps her busy, she treasures the time she spends at home with her loved ones.
